Thanks for stopping by my store! After spending years as a flight attendant I decided to focus on my long time interest of art and design. I live in Lawrence, KS which is a cool little college town that is very supportive of the arts and there are many opportunities to display my artwork. The natural beauty of the Great Plains is a constant source of inspiration to me. I live with my husband and several furry babies.

Hey Amy, I looked for your name on the winners list but didn't see it :( I was bummed. I looked more than once because it's so many names of people and pieces, mind boggling. Anyway, I bet you're disappointed for sure but I hope to see more pieces come up soon. That was by far my best showing so I'm hoping to carry that forward. Wanted to throw out a couple of Lawrence related things to you...first, blah on KU's tournament performance last month - uurgh! I was also pulling for Illinois (they reminded me of those Jayhawk teams from year's past including getting upset in the early round. Didn't think they were that similar!). Also, I just read a profile piece of the Raven Bookstore in The New Yorker. Kudos to them. Makes me wish I was back there. Have a great weekend!

Yeah, crazy huh! My dream job as a kid was to be a Browns wide receiver LOL! lots of passing routes with my big brother. So, you asked about pets earlier, my kids wanted a kitten each summer before last so we got 2 males (brothers) at 3 months old, they’ll be 2 April 1st. Taco & Jinx. Grey striped and orange/white. They’re great. Still have our dog Sadie, the beagle / terrier.

You’re not going to believe this but I was a huge Browns fan growing up and still root for them. I even have a Brian Sipe quarterback jersey from when I was 9 tucked away in my scrap box :) I had mixed feelings last week but so much enjoyed the win over Steelers. They’ll be back next season - talented team. As for KU, even my mother-in-law has lost track of their season, that is most unusual. They need a great standout player.

Thanks, Amy. Just trying to keep her comfy and happy. We actually cancelled a big round of tests today at the University of Illinois Pet Hospital - not an easy decision but it wasn't going to put us at an even greater advantage, just more knowledge. She had a great, clean bill of health just after Christmas. This blindsided me. Some lung, throat issues but steady with it. I'm just like you, often lack finding something I could dress up my store with as far photos or statement. Not my forte but I might try to chip away at it but I've said that 3 years in a row now LOL

Hi Amy, again, thanks for your comment and likes. I was just editing my artist statement on my profile (the one I had seemed kind of heavy) and was on track to go to your submissions but I'm not seeing anything for this challenge. It's a weird one - splitting things out into 2s or 3s or more is confounding and it's hard to see things just split up but after a while I guess it settles on me. I hope you have some pieces coming up quickly - deadline around corner, right?! But I always love your pieces and find inspiration with it. Hope you and yours are safe and well. My other older kitty is having major health issues all of a sudden so I'm bracing myself. Trying times!!!

Hi Amy, I’m laughing again about that 2 steps into the litter box comment. I can relate, had a cat all through the college, found him at my mailbox on state line road in KC, and he had the worst litter box manners and that brought back memories. Mostly with going #1. We’re using our dog’s poop bags with our kittens stuff because they just go all the time and it’s potent. Our dog too is a terrier mix. Jack Russell and Beagle. She’s amazing! Our oldest cat, Adja, is 16 as well and is going strong despite having that dreaded thyroid condition for a couple of years now but it’s a very low grade so no real effects (yet!). Her sister developed diabetes and eventually succumbed to that last year and that was super hard to manage (one of the reasons I didn’t do much on Minted at the time). My wife plays in the Peoria Symphony though she nearly won a slot in the KC Symphony right after her UMKC stint and had she gotten that we would be in KC right now. Peoria is a nice regional outfit but it’s almost an hour away and really taxing on the rehearsals and performances but she enjoys it. I used to catch more of the concerts but the Harry Potter one this weekend is the most popular and everyone gets into it. Hey I wanted ask you - do you know Andy Goldsworthy, the artist/ sculptor? I’ve always known his work and got really excited about that wall he was creating at the Nelson Atkins which I just read is almost coming to an end. Wondered if it caught your attention. Hey there, Amy :) How’s it going? Fall settling in yet in Lawrence? Thanks for your like. I managed to squeeze in one more entry. Even if it doesn’t bode well, I enjoyed the process and maybe it’ll open up to something else. And thanks for your note the other day - I’m really sorry to hear about your recent loss of your dogs. That’s what happened to us - having lost one of our oldest cats just over a year ago. Never easy though having the new little guys has helped ease the loss. They are a handful and lots of fun. What kind of dog did you get by the way? The kids can’t get enough of the kittens though the litter box duty has fallen mostly to me as I predicted and it’s never ending. Our dog too loves them and got in sync with them right away. They play and entertain each other. Our other older cat, Adja, (a sister to the one we loss) is having a hard time adjusting to Taco and Jinx but it’s getting a bit better. My kids are doing well-psyched for Halloween and this weekend’s Harry Potter Symphony concert with movie (#2). My wife is performing (cello). Lots of great artwork in the challenge (I’ve plunked down just over 200 votes so I need to get busy and do some more). Best always, Eric

Hi Amy, hope you are well! I'm just starting to come up for air as it were and check out what's going on with the recent design challenges. Hardly a dull moment on Minted. Thanks for all your support and comments - really appreciate hearing from you. I scrambled on PB and the Save the Date entries but ya never know what catches their eye. Did you get your West Elm stuff up and running? Sorry I didn't get back earlier on your other note, so many summer things just cascading over each other (plus we got two new kittens :) ! I bet Claire was excited to have that first win in her pocket - she's talented. And I was hoping you'd have some pieces for PB Challenge and you didn't disappoint! Oh good, I’m glad to know all is okay with you. Ditto on our family - apparently, through that area around KC, it went aloft and into to a reorganization mode, so lots of circulation but no touch down. I can’t believe the daily onslaught of these twisters but apparently people are taking protection because lives lost has been minimal though any loss is terrible. And just putting things back together with all the scars of the tornado damage lingering around for months or years changes things. We’ve had some threatening systems and tornadoes up here too but nothing too close to us yet. Stay safe! Looking forward to your West Elm splash and congrats to your niece as well!

Hey Amy, sorry not to get back to you sooner-hope you’re having a nice weekend so far. Wow, you hit the jackpot - 26 buys from one customer, one print? Which one(s)? That nuts but way cool. Maybe to resell in a local store? It bugs me too that the sale notice doesn’t mention size. But extra Xmas spending money for sure, eh? You were asking about the graphic design projects - yes, I use Adobe Illustrator. an iPad and Procreate too, not so much Photoshop. It’s really why I first thought about joining Minted years ago but the Challenge at the time was either Wedding or Baby related and I just didn’t have the imagination for those topics. I felt my style wasn’t relevant at the time or I wasn’t caught up on trends. Fonts and Type a part of that. I wish I could do more but it takes a lot for me just to make one or two cards and if you win it’s time consuming getting the project polished off for Minted. I guess you can start small and see where it goes. You asked about my kids - you’re right, son and daughter. They’re twins :) They just turned 9 on September 9th (2009)! Fun birthdate. He’s finally recovered from his ordeal but they found a couple of small hernias while in there so he’ll have to go back for another similar type of non-invasive surgery. I couldn’t believe the amount of entries for the West Elm challenge - it’s exciting. Ok, talk with you later. Have a good one!

Hi Amy, thanks for the note and likes. Truly a big fan of yours - glad you "cranked" out some art - really amazing compositions. I wish I can just like them all in one setting, got kind of tired going back & forth on the browser but got a few in. I mentioned to Minted long ago to allow users to stay on one artist page to view several works of art at once and not be driven to other parts of the website...oh well. That's really cool your niece is getting involved. I'll look for her works. Family talent! I was under crunch time myself this morning - just as previous challenges, had something come up that kept me sidelined but not complaining, life has it's own say most times - my son had an urgent appendectomy Monday morning, a Sunday night all-nighter included, surgery. It went fine and just getting back on his feet and to normal routines. Glad to keep in touch - good luck, I'm seeing some picks for you for sure :)

Hi Amy! Sorry for not getting back sooner. Glad to hear things are going well for you. The art in the park sounds terrific - I'm sure it's a big undertaking but you got the stuff for it. I'm trying to sort through this current PB Challenge and get something going....we'll see...what do you do to get locked in and get the creative juices going? I kind of went back to my first "win" of that abstract photograph and exploring that idea further - maybe something will come of it that I can build on. Are you taking up the PB Challenge? Hi Amy, yeah, I've been rather aloof here on Minted this past year but hope I can get my footing for the next. So many things sideswiped me beyond my control - family tragedies, older pets & their care, house projects, my busy family, you name it. A lot of it ran right into the Challenges and I had no way to put things together other than a few photos and cards. Just seemed like an endless drip of struggle & new reality and routines. It was nice to look at some wonderful artwork here and there as a way to cope. But how are you and things back in Lawrence/KC? Glad to see you're still submitting work and getting some wins, well deserved. Again, Congrats! Thanks for reaching out and staying in touch.
