About Abby Reid

I have always been fascinated by the human eyes.My traditional oil on linen portraits feature the subject's face--up close and personal.I envision that my artwork evolves in my mind's eye and is translated by my hands to the canvas.I am a native New Englander and I am married to a man with deep roots in the Great Smokey Mountains.We have two beautiful children.Much of the inspiration for my artwork is drawn from the experiences of our family, from the viewpoint of me-the Mother!

Hi Avis-- Thanks for the feedback you gave me on my "Circus Performer" Mother's Day card :) You mentioned that the illustration seemed dated--I was going for a sort of vintage feel (based my illustrations on 50's animation), but perhaps it just falls flat...Is there any way you could point me in the direction of some illustrations/styles that seem more "now"? Much appreciated! Bromwyn

Hey Avis, thanks for your comments on Malibu Overlook. I'm am aware of the Rule of Thirds--one of the things I loved about this shot was the light in the water, so I was trying to retain as much of that as I could. I think this shot just isn't going to work out--I don't normally do half compositions like this and I think I'm trying to force something that just isn't there.
