About Eric Ransom

With a background in music (piano / composition) as well as art and design, I'm often in my comfort zone creating. I have a continuous curiosity of things involving art, design, nature, music, architecture and photography. Inspiration is never in short supply. With a great cup of coffee, I’m always up for a Minted Challenge but I’m most easily sidetracked in spending time with my wife, our two kids and our terrific dog and cats.

Hello Eric, I hope you are well I apologize for the late reply I have not been well these couple of days been missing out on the challenges too haha. Your home town sounds perfect to me! I love the idea of going out to the woods to exercise in the mornings or playtime with your dog, the fresh air and the trees would be so wonderful! Where I live is very packed with housing and stores the upside is very easy to get anything and the food here is great! I’m quite lucky to be able to study in Sydney, I remember the beautiful parks and beaches having icecreams in winter lol. Oh I loooove hearing you telling me about your dog I love her she sounds so adorable! Anyway hope you’re having a great week Eric thank you for taking time and telling me stories they are special to me ♥️ I wonder if I can find you on slack is it a better option to chat?

Hello Eric, hope your monday are not as crazy as mine..so I've found out that if you pressed 'enter' after a sentence, the next sentence afterwards would be cut out and not included in the comments :D apologies for my short replies before. Yes I lived in the most central of Jakarta where all the crazy traffic is :D have you been to Jakarta? You mentioned the white dog with beige background looks a lot like your dog I loove to hear about her! And yes the dogs are based on my best friend's dogs, the white dog with his hair up (his mom called it apple head) is called Frankie and the one with beige background is called Owen, there's more in the family maybe should include them in next challenge! Hi Eric, Is your wife in the St. Louis symphony? What a talented family you are! I love your cats names.. Taco and Jinx.. you can tell kids were involved in the naming! We adopted a little terrier mix.. only about 8 pounds. She’s very scruffy looking. I had to laugh at the litter box comment. I’m ashamed to say I’ve let all of that fall into my husband. After about 12 years I couldn’t take it anymore, they’re both 16 and going strong. And like two years ago someone decided to start pooping right outside the box. Like just take two steps and go inside please! Anyway I’m going to get back to voting I’m at 2300 so about a third of the way I think. Take care! Amy

How are your kids and how are the new kitties working out? We recently lost both of our little, old dogs within four days of each other. So we just adopted a new dog. Hi Eric! So good to hear from you! I know summer seems to be such a busy time. The contests have been coming non-stop. I can’t enter any of the others because I don’t know Adobe Illustrator. I’ve tried to learn it with no success. Two new kittens! Your kids must be thrilled! Are your kids back in school now? As far as West Elm goes my piece has yet to be listed online. Not sure what’s taking so long since other new Minted pieces are on there. And I still have two other Minted picks from that contest that have yet to be listed. I really like your pieces for this contest. Are they paint or pastels? Very cool. Well I hope all is well with you and you’re not covered in too many scratches from those tiny sharp claws! Hi! You know I’m not getting the emails anymore that day I have a message. I just saw yours about your son! That’s crazy! Glad it all turned out ok, how old is he? You have a son and a daughter right? Not to change the subject but the other night I got an email that I sold 26 of one of my prints to a customer in San Francisco. Isn’t that nuts? I wonder what they’ll do with them all. I wish there was a way to tell what size was sold. Well.. now the waiting game begins....

I would’ve loved to but I don’t know the format they need to be in .. it’s over my head. Things are going great here in Lawrence. You know what I never bothered with the store because, like you said, it would be a lot to get all those high res shots and people on Minted don't really like my stuff I don't think. Haha . It's just not the right style .. I doubt anything would sell. So what is involved in phase two?

Oh yes your question makes perfect sense I wasn't thinking in terms of submitting to Minted because they asked me to submit mine the day after the contest ended! I had one day to get the file ready! I don't have a good camera so I take mine to a local photographer, Tim Forcade, he's AMAZING. he's really an artist. He takes a hi-res photo for me. It's not cheap I wish I could do it myself but I don't have the set up.. you probably do though don't you? To be honest the quality of the West Elm print was a little fuzzy. Made me realize that the quality of the file I submitted was probably overkill. But with West Elm you don't know what size print they will make your painting into.

Hi! I think the only WE in the area is on the plaza.. I could be wrong. Last time my painting was only in the catalog and online .. not in the stores. A friend bought one so I got to see the print all framed up which was cool. Now do you mean what do I do if I'm going to sell a painting online ? Like on etsy?
