About Jason Derck

Jason's interest in photography began at an early age, when he made a habit of sneaking off with his father’s polaroid camera. Today, Jason uses whatever camera he can get his hands on to capture the world around him. Jason's favorite subject matter are sweeping natural landscapes, and also scenery that depicts the intersection of humanity and nature. Jason's goal is always to evoke an emotion in his audience, and perhaps provide a new perspective of the world we share.

Thanks for the comment Jason. I'm a graphic designer, not a photographer, and I just got my first DSLR. This trip to the Grand Canyon was my first time playing around with the camera! This was by far the best shot I got out of the weekend. Thanks again!

Thanks for your correction on my Chrysler Building and Grand Central Station photo. You know how sometimes you know things but are typing fast and your brain makes silly mistakes? HEY! Excellent. Thanks for the info. I am looking into it. The last thing I had was a full program and found that I rarely used it because LR & PS were my workhorses.. I love that it's a plugin. I am definitely looking into it! THANKS!

Hi Jason. Do you edit in Lightroom? Your images all have a quality to them that makes them look soft. I am assuming it is a negative clarity value in the presence menu in lightroom. Your images are very consistent and all have the same interesting feel to them. I can recognize your images without even looking at the name. You have a great eye for composition. :)

Thanks Jason for the likes on my photography. You also do some amazing photography. The fact that you live in Brooklyn, probably gives you many beautiful photo opportunities. I always enjoy visiting NY to see my daughter and to take photos. Not sure if you are the Jason who had a question about Cafe Ole. If so, that was taken at the MGM studio Stunt Show.

Thanks for the suggestions. I have not tried focus stacking--I'm usually shooting sans tripod, but it sounds interesting to try--might motivate me to bring the tripod out a little more.
