About the work
One of the things I find most fascinating living on the west coast is how much wilderness is still around cohabiting with humans, whether we notice them or not: coyotes, deers, raccoons, even bobcats! There’s been raccoons in my backyard at night and one time I ran into a deer with majestic antlers right near a big boulevard. Knowing this wild life is around inspires in me a sense of freedom and also a feeling of connection to something larger, like watching a starry sky. With this piece I hope to communicate a similar feeling in the viewer, imagining that as soon as we have our eyes closed the animals all come out and party!
