About the work

This piece illustrates the story of the Pleiades, or Seven Sisters, who were turned into birds and placed in the heavens to escape from the hunter Orion. I combined the traditional materials of watercolor and pencil with digital drawings of the birds and arrows to create a piece that is both clean and textured, as well as simple and complex.
