About the work
California's evening skies never cease to surprise. I had initially anticipated a vibrant, golden sunset as I ventured out to photograph from beautiful Hermosa Beach's pier this day, yet almost returned home upon seeing the clouds suddenly roll in. I made a last minute decision to continue wandering down to the beach anyways. As I made my way onto the pier, I was pleasantly surprised to find an even more magical scene with the surf roaring alive and cotton candy colored clouds playing amidst the dramatic gray. I truly hope that this unexpected piece inspires the same tranquil, mystical feeling for you that it did for me as I stumbled upon this moment.
