About the work

This photograph depicts the joy of driving on dirt roads far away from everything. It is here that things seem very simple. It wanted to create the feeling of being both rooted in the earth but also floating in the sky. I manipulated the original photograph that was taken on a trip photographing wild horses in the mountains of Colorado. I blurred the land to get a feeling of movement. I simplified the colors so there was just gold brown earth with a brilliant turquoise sky. In the black and white version, the sense of driving on this empty road becomes even more pronounced.
