I am very lucky to live near the beach in CT. I am always sad to see the summer end, and this lonely lifeguard chair was a dismal reminder that Fall was around the corner. I tried to capture the coolness of the blue sky and the crispness in the air in this acrylic painting.

about the artist

byCarol C. Young

Fairfield, CT

Carol C. Young is a CT based artist who has gained recognition for her bold landscape paintings. Her use of contrasting colors capture the light and shadow of architectural structures within the rural landscape. Carol is intrigued by older buildings, and has been identified with her depictions of barns. In the artist's words, "There is something nostalgic about an old barn or cottage that draws me in and I hope to capture them on canvas before the ever changing landscape changes again forever."
