In spanish, the word for the hibiscus flower is jamaica. Quintessentially tropical, its bright magenta petals unfurl in the heat of the day to reveal a light pink center and striking yellow stamen. This work is part of my Equatorial series that explores the food, flora and fauna of South America. Originally an acrylic on canvas painting.
