About Under the Microscope: “When tending to the soil, it's amazing what you can see if you stop to really look. This mixed media piece represents what I imagine is hiding in the soil: seeds, nutrients, and the building blocks to support growth to come.”

Kayla King is an abstract painter from the Central Coast of California. She finds inspiration within the natural world, specifically and landscape and in her home garden. Finished works largely influenced by water and earth: the motion, energy, sound, and texture all playing a large role what is translated to the finished piece. Stories are told in overlapping layers and marks, creating an expressive visual language that seeks to suspend a moment or memory in time.
