I originally painted this cheerful watercolor shark for a friend, who was looking for an undersea creature, that had a face, and looked happy, to hang in her son's room, which had a nautical theme. Sharks don't have to be menacing, and their big smiles can be so cheerful. So, this sweet shark fit the bill!

    about the artist

    byLauren Rogoff

    New York, NY

I'm Lauren: a NYer, traveler, lover of books, horses, dogs and painting. When I was a little girl, used to tell anyone who asked me what I wanted to do when I grew up that I wanted to be a "veterinarian with pictures all over the walls" but ultimately I'd rather wield a paintbrush than a scalpel! Watercolors are my medium of choice. I think it allows me to best capture the expressions of my subjects, and getting that face, those eyes, or little ears or curl of tail, just right.
