About the work
This abstract acrylic painting takes a modern spin on landscape art. This mountainscape was inspired by a trip to Lake Tahoe with my family. The colors and form are my representation of the steep hills of the Sierra Nevadas contrasting with the blue of the lake.

Caryn Owen created abstract paintings while simultaneously balancing motherhood and a career as a marine biology professor for years. In 2014, she left marine biology behind to predominately focus on art. Using acrylic paint on canvas, Caryn creates abstract landscapes, abstract botanicals, or pure abstract expressionist paintings focusing primarily on color rather than form in her studio in Santa Cruz, California.
