A fox in a snowy woodland winter scene is decorative and fun. In the long New England winter the color palette of browns, grays, blacks and whites seem to go on forever. Beautiful birches abound in my world and they form silvery white lovely, graceful slender shapes against the dark background of my woods. It is always exciting to see the burst of color of a bright red fox dashing through the snow. The personality of the strong, proud fox is evident in this piece of art owning his personal part of the forest.

    about the artist

    byAnnie Bakst

    East Calais, VT

A city girl moves to the country, not an unusual story, but we are talking New York City, and not just the country, but the "boonies". I always loved flowers, and growing things and a tiny balcony just never cut it. Now I have 27 acres of woods and 18 flower beds, a pond, an 1830 farmhouse, and hummingbirds and way too many bugs. It energizes me to make art with serenity and excitement at the same time and to see the landscape in new ways. I love the woods and walk in them every day!
