About the work
This illustration is part of a series of state floral bouquets inspired by my love of flowers. The Viola sororia also known as the Wood Violet was picked by school children in 1909 to be the state flower of Wisconsin, but it was not until 1949 that it became the official state flower. A pretty purple flower that blooms in the states wet woodlands, along roadsides and river beds.
