This modern abstract painting represents a modern twist on landscape art. This painting was inspired by the beauty of the Northern Californian coastline during a King tide and Blood Moon in January. This seascape evokes the shades of the Pacific coast when the moon is full and the tidepools are exposed.

Caryn Owen created abstract paintings while simultaneously balancing motherhood and a career as a marine biology professor for years. In 2014, she left marine biology behind to predominately focus on art. Using acrylic paint on canvas, Caryn creates abstract landscapes, abstract botanicals, or pure abstract expressionist paintings focusing primarily on color rather than form in her studio in Santa Cruz, California.
