Which came first? The bird or the egg? In this modern and graphic piece I was inspired by the fluid motion of birds. I loved trying to create the idea of birds flowing and swimming in both the positive and negative space where it is difficult to tell there one thing ends and another begins.

    byMary Ketch

    Norman, OK

Mary James Ketch is a contemporary American artist living in the woods near Norman, Oklahoma. Her narrative paintings are a visual distillation of scenes of everyday life, in which the figures seem to inhabit a lyrical dream-like world. She draws on memories from childhood, family life, and the surrounding landscape. Ketch attended the University of Oklahoma before receiving her M.F.A. from the University of Southern California, School of Cinema-Television.
