About the work

The unique cottages tucked away in the beach towns of San Diego were the inspiration for the series Places & Spaces. "Two of Us" is an exploration of these buildings in their simplest form to create juxtaposition as if emotionally attached. It’s common for architecture to be represented by flat, hard-edged shapes, but here, they have been painted with layers of color and a dark outline showing through, imperfect, like human relationships.
