This image is part of a series exploring using light to create abstract drawings on silver based photographic paper in the darkroom. The image is created entirely by drawing in different ways with very dim light onto the paper. The image itself doesn't become visible until after the paper has been developed. Creating the image relies heavily on imagination and memory to guess what may appear. The only thing I see while working is a white sheet of photo paper. Sometimes the result is mostly just a dark sheet of paper, and others like this image it is a magical surprise.

I like to find the magical in ordinary everyday things. Much of my work is inspired by things no further than then end of the driveway, because I suffer from a chronic disability. It's my art that saves me. I have been making art of one form or another my whole life. I have worked in many mediums: photography, collage, bookarts, printmaking, painting, and fabric design.
