About the work
Dark, heavy object-like bits form the base for “swarming” and layers of light-colored tissue are applied strategically to mask parts of the bold shapes while also exposing the vibrancy of the underlying pieces of cut paper dancing beneath. Playing with the transparencies and softness of the light tissue here, I’ve experimented with subtly building up the collage in a similar way to painting, yet the base is never fully eliminated in the process.
