About the work
I have two elements that I really love to use when I'm making art – geometric shapes and washy gouache paint. Typically I keep these separate, but I'm always thinking about ways that I could combine these two styles to make something cool. I hope this is the beginning of a great relationship!

Her work is inspired by Louisiana landscapes, Pacific Northwest mountains and forests, the coast of California, New York City architecture, and Seattle skylines. Melanie studied abstract painting at Gage Academy of Art. She was born in rural Louisiana and spent most of her adult life on the West Coast. No matter where her journeys take her, Louisiana, the Pacific Northwest, and Southern California will always live inside her.
