I like to work on large-scale colored pencil drawings of colorful toys. This is one of many robots that I have drawn over the years. The original drawing is over 36" tall. I like to choose subjects that have the potential for using bright, vivid colors. My most frequent subjects are vintage toys, especially space-related toys, spaceships, rockets, ray-guns, vintage radios, electric guitars and accordions. I always work at a large scale and produce my colors by blending rows of colored pencil marks using light and dark values of particular colors.
