I have a great appreciation for classic, old-fashioned space toys and images and have done many art works dealing with spaceships, ray-guns and robots. I always look for subjects to draw that will give me the opportunity to work with bright, vivid colors. I especially like the retro look of vintage toys, old radios and electric guitars. I always work at a large size and lay down color using rows of colored pencil marks (approx. 1/2" tall). I then build up and model the colors by overlaying successively darker tones. I recently completed a series of large drawings of various accordions.
