I enjoy the evolution of a painting, with abstracts especially, because there are no rules or guidelines; the process can be a bit ambiguous. When I started this piece I was planning to create something sunset inspired, but after the first few layers, it started heading in a different direction; I ended up with more of a marbling effect that seemed to come together on it's own. The palette is mostly neutral with subtle hues of brightness. The addition of layers add depth without overwhelming it with color. The art of subtlety can be tricky but I am very happy with the result.
