Thomas Bewick's woodcuts are among the finest ever done. I have an interest in re-interpreting his natural English scenes that were intended as minor "fillers" for publications of all types (also known as "tailpieces" ) - small vignettes of common 19th century country life. He is also known for producing exquisite quasi - scientific woodcuts of common English fish and birds...such as Bewick's Little Bustard which I have rendered in pen & ink as an homage to Mr. Bewick.
