I painted this from a photo I took while driving from Enid, Oklahoma, to Wichita, Kansas in June of 2015. It was early in the morning -- maybe about six -- and the sky was bright though a touch foggy. It was almost colorless but had the faintest minty tone and I had to capture it. I am working on simplifying my paintings; I want to capture the feel of a place rather than all the little details. To me, this painting conveys the wonder of the open road.
