An hour north of Vancouver in British Columbia, there is a gondola that takes you from the sea to the sky. On the way up, one gets a view down, past the peak they call the Chief, to the small city of Squamish, which sits at the top of the bay. Sometimes, the view is hazy, and the town becomes less distinct. But the sense of wonder and majesty are just as sharp.
