In this piece I used soft focus to transform a typical beach picture into bands of color. I oriented the frame of the image to be vertical rather than the customary horizontal landscape to emphasis the bands. This piece is inspired by 1950s painter Mark Rothko. An artist of the color field movement, his work is a big influence on my photography.
