On a recent road trip through the American Southwest, I drove through Joshua Tree National Park.The cholla cactus garden on vibrant display against the mauve colored mountains was one of my favorite stops. Also know as "teddy bear" cacti, the cholla look cuddly, but don't get too close. :)
