When I was a little girl I used to love crayon etching; covering a piece of paper with bright crayon colours and then going over them in black crayon. I would take a pencil or a thin sharp object and scratch out animal shapes, flowers or trees. Scratching away the black crayon revealed the colour beneath. I love butterflies and thought this would be a great way to bring out their detail, colours and patterns. This piece would suite any space, gender and age and has a craft feel to it.
