On the wide flat beaches of the Washington coast, the waves slide in on top of one another like thinly overlapping plates of silver. My intent in this painting was to show the the tension of the sea - meditative enough to soothe your spirit but powerful enough to swoop right up and touch you. I want the viewer to feel a tactile closeness to the waves.
