This abstract acrylic painting takes a modern spin on landscape art. This colorful seascape was inspired by the amazing Alaskan coastline during the green summer months. The royal blues of the deep channels and the muted turquoise of the shallow waters really brought this painting together.

Caryn Owen created abstract paintings while simultaneously balancing motherhood and a career as a marine biology professor for years. In 2014, she left marine biology behind to predominately focus on art. Using acrylic paint on canvas, Caryn creates abstract landscapes, abstract botanicals, or pure abstract expressionist paintings focusing primarily on color rather than form in her studio in Santa Cruz, California.
