The stamp was part of the Winter Garden Flowers booklet, the final booklet in the broader Garden Flowers series, which celebrated flowers associated with the four seasons. Issued on January 19, 1996, in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania, the Winter Garden Flowers stamps featured five cold-season blooms: crocus, winter aconite, pansy, snowdrop, and anemone. The designs were created as a continuous se-tenant garden scene, giving the group the appearance of flowers growing together in the same winter garden.
