About the work

On an unseasonably warm March morning, I set out to capture swans in flight. My destination was an estuary in Northern Wisconsin alongside the Great Lake Superior. I heard the birds before I saw them. I scanned the skies and located a family of migrating swans, and as they approached they shifted their direction north, catching the light of the rising sun as they glided down to open waters. This print is also offered in monochrome.
