About the work

On this winter day, a barn dramatically appears beneath a blanket of fresh snow. I have always loved how snow can create a clean backdrop for otherwise easily, overlooked objects. This familiar barn in particular appeared new and well-defined in a way I had not seen it before. I especially found its gambrel roofline striking between the dark paneling and snow covered roof. The crisp lines are softened slightly by a pattern of snow flurries continuing to fall. Living in northeast Ohio, I am surrounded by a landscape rich with rural, family farms surviving all the challenges of modern day agriculture. My hope is to document them in a way that gives attention to the character of their cultural heritage.
