“Lithium Field”is an abstract representation of lithium leaching fields. It is clear that paths forward in protecting our planet are circuitous. I find myself spiraling sometimes when it comes to making the right decisions for leaving the planet better than I found it. It is sometimes hard to know the best path. I am researching electric cars and I can’t help but look at the impact lithium mining is having on the environment. We need lithium for electric car batteries but mining it uses tremendous amounts of water and is disruptive to the environments where it is found. We clearly know the impact of crude oil mining and natural gas fracking but do we know what devastation Lithium mining holds? I don’t know. But I have to keep researching and I have to keep asking the questions. I am still buying an electric car because it is a step forward, albeit not as clear of a step as I would hope.
