At first glance, this painting may appear to be an abstract. Then, upon further inspection the viewer realizes the arctic blue shocks of color across the canvas are actually shadows on the snow cast by towering evergreens. These trees and their late evening shadows lay witness to the progress and perseverance of a lone Iditarod musher and his loyal team of sled dogs making their way to the finish line in Nome, Alaska.
