About the work

This abstract acrylic painting represents a study of color of the Pacific coast of California. This piece was inspired by all of the blue, greens and grays off of the coast of Santa Cruz where mixing currents from the deep waters bring up nutrients from below.

In 2014, she left marine biology behind to predominately focus on art. Using acrylic paint on canvas, Caryn creates abstract landscapes, abstract botanicals, or pure abstract expressionist paintings focusing primarily on color rather than form in her studio in Santa Cruz, California.
