This is a paper collage made with sume paper painted with gouache, colored inks and pencil.

This collage is one from a series where I'm interested in exploring the colors, patterns and textures of nature according to season. This one "March" is indicative of new yellow greens just starting. The process of making these pieces are in distinct stages: first I will paint or mark/draw on the sume paper, then treat the paper with a resin, then cutting and assembling, once composition is complete the whole piece is hot ironed which fuses the papers together.

    I am a painter and collage artist. But not always! I have a degree in horticulture and worked for many years outside either gardening or designing gardens for others. Real and imaginary plants and landscape are my thing. I need to stay curious about the imagery and the materials - "the stuff" of creating a piece. My work employs multiple stylistic approaches for that reason- curiosity! Enjoy.
