I have long been captivated by butterflies and moths; their beauty, their transformation, their elusiveness, their fragility. One of my favorite memories as a child was the first time a butterfly landed on my hand, rewarding my uncharacteristic stillness (as a seven year old). These paintings are a return to that lesson of stillness, slowly translating these creatures in paint, stepping out of time while I practice this means of gratitude and wonder. You can find other paintings in this series that pair particularly well in my Minted shop.
