I am a long time gardener, and the joy comes from seeing the seed germinate, stalk grow, flower and produce fruit, ripened it holds an entire world with in it. When cut, sliced, diced, peeled, or bitten into it reveals its full potential - awakens all the senses, before finally nourishing our bodies.
