As an interior designer and painter, there’s nothing more important to me aesthetically then the use of color. “Spices” is part of a collection of prints that are all about color and movement. I often find inspiration for my color pallets in nature. Nature gives an endless supply of ideas, from the ever changing blue skies, all the rich greens of grass, flowers, sand, stones, and the gorgeous hues of leaves as they change color in the fall. “Spices” was inspired by colors in the flavored salts and sugars I saw at a stand at the farmer’s market. There was a warmth in the memories that came from some of the scents. That sensation is what I wanted to capture in “Spices.” Though this print is part of a larger series, they are each meant to be able to stand on their own.
