Fields teaming with goldenrod remind me of my childhood home in Maine. These beautiful flowers are often thought of as weeds and in my opinion get a bad rap.If you suffer from seasonal allergies, you might have a different opinion...but the good news is, that this painting of goldenrod is pollen-free! This is part of a collection of 8"x 8" acrylic paintings that I completed over one month. I challenged myself to paint 30 paintings in 30 days for the month of January. It was the perfect time to hunker down with a glass of red wine or a cup of tea (depending on the time of day) and explore with a paintbrush in hand and the beautiful landscapes of the East End of Long Island in my heart. This collection of paintings is called "Bittersweet" because, in my opinion, the best things in life are bitter and sweet. There is something about the contrast of old and new, dark and light, cold and warm that brings out the true beauty of nature to me.
