I've always found inspiration in the woods. I grew up in rural Alaska where the birch tree forests where common yet magical through all the seasons. The native Indians would call them moon forests. I used to sit in these forests and draw all the time so naturally i needed to pay my respects to the woods that gave me so much. In my mind, this drawing is a self portrait as much as it is a landscape. The pencil is my favorite tool, it casts give the image a ton of depth a nice monochromatic presentation and adds the personal touch that the subject deserves.
