I have always had a deep appreciation for classical still life paintings, and have recently been exploring a more contemporary approach to this traditional subject matter. My goal is to keep a painting loose but accurate, with thick oil paint and little pops of unexpected color. I have always loved the color palette of bosc pears - from golden brown to green to rich mustard yellow. These warm tones were a pleasing complement to a blue delft bowl from my vintage pottery collection.
