About the work

Slipping down to the lake before sunrise I find a gentle, soft, magical scene. Just before the sun makes it over the eastern hill, warm and cool tones blend subtly in an almost abstract scene of mist rising up from the water. The silence at this time of day is punctuated by the occasional bird song, croaking of a frog, or the sound of a fish flopping back into the water.
