This expansive image of sea and sky was taken in Avalon, NJ facing Sea Isle City. I have been going to Avalon every summer since I was a teenager and have continued the tradition with my husband and two children. At the end of August, on our final trip to the beach, we always visit this spot which is our official farewell to summer. This image was inspired by the breathtaking beauty of the scenery here and the feelings of past, present and future that it evokes. Visualizing the image in black and white emphasizes the contrast in scale between that which has been made by man and that which has been made by nature.
