The Meso-American Reef follows the coasts of Mexico, Belize, Guatemala and Honduras in the Caribbean Sea. At 700 miles in length, it is the largest barrier reef in the Western Hemisphere. Climate change is causing higher water temperatures, sea-level rise, stronger tropical storms and changes in the pH of seawater, making this a critically endangered ecosystem.
