This miraculous, huge flower springs from the humble San Pedro cactus. The limited color palette emphasizes the exquisite, delicate structure of the flower. I encountered this eight-foot high plant while living in Auckland, New Zealand. The flowers were more than six inches wide and just so spectacular. The thing is, they only last for a few hours. They open up in the night and then close in a few hours after sunrise.
