On a family vacation to the beach several years ago, I snapped a photo of my niece sleeping on her mother's shoulder. Around six months old, this was baby's first trip to the beach. I liked how the photo turned out so much that I decided to use it as a reference for this painting. I framed the original as a gift for my mother. I hope that this painting will evoke fond memories of past family vacations for others or that others will simply enjoy the peace that a sleeping baby brings.
